Roxana Lee Tranberg
A Celebration of Life will be held at Bellingham Covenant Church, 1530 East Bakerview Road, Bellingham, WA on May 19th at 2:00pm. You are encouraged to wear any color, with the exception of black.
Our beautiful and kind mother, Roxana “Sanna” Lee (Pfundt) (Lyon) Tranberg began her heavenly adventure on April 3, 2024 at the age of 88. Her daughters and granddaughter were beside her.
Mom had an idyllic childhood growing up in Olalla, WA. At the age of 14 the family moved to California Creek in Blaine, WA and she graduated from Blaine High School in 1954. To this day, mom maintained friendships with several classmates. Mom married Ralph Lyon in Blaine and in 1956, with a babe in arms, ventured to Vicenza, Italy where dad was stationed with the Army for one year. In 1964 she married George Tranberg in Blaine and he happily took on the role of stepfather.
Our time together included summer camping trips throughout the west with mom as co-pilot, reading the maps as we drove. This began a lifelong interest in maps and atlases, allowing her to follow along on the adventures of others. She was fortunate to have made two trips to Europe and watching travel programs fed her spirit of adventure.
Her favorite place though was home and time spent with family and friends. Mom was an avid reader of novels and recipe books and an excellent seamstress, and quilter. When in the ‘mood’ she would go to her sewing room, drag out some fabric, and see what happened. Going for rides out in the county was a common event, taking note of the changes along the way since the last ride, then to Edaleen for ice cream.
Mom, being the oldest of seven, often helped in the care of her siblings. Her nickname, Sanna, came about after one of her younger sisters couldn’t say Roxana and from then on she was affectionately known as ‘Sanna’. Mom was blessed with the gift of looking younger than her years. She had a fabulous eye for color and could accessorize any outfit beautifully. Strong, humble, supportive without interfering, caring without smothering, loving without condition. This was our mom.
Roxana is survived by her daughters, Susan Anderson and Valerie Lyon-Parker (David), sisters Cecily Thompson (Cliff), Barbara Brainard, Kathy Pfundt and Kris Springer (Dave). Brothers, Jeff Pfundt (Alana) and Fred Pfundt (Diann). Grandchildren Sophia and Graeme Parker, 16 nieces and nephews and numerous cousins. Predeceased by her parents Cecil and Florence Pfundt and son-in-law Mark Anderson.

I came to know Roxana through working with her at Boga. I so appreciate her professionalism as a coworker . She taught me a lot about be a fantastic receptionist. I always admired the way she carried herself in such an elegant and classy way. She truly is a beautiful lady inside and out.

I worked with Roxana for a number of years. First at Whatcom Pathology Lab, then at Bellingham Orthopedics and finally at BOGA. She was such a positive presence always with a smile. Truly a special lady. May she rest in peace.
Unfortunately I will miss her celebration as I will be out of town on May 19. My heart goes out to her family.

Roxana and I were class mates since she moved to Blaine. We shared birthdays together both being March kids and then reunited when she came back from Italy and moved next door.
From that time on we were a part of the March birthday group of 4.
We shared our faith in the Lord Jesus in our later years and will reunite when we spend eternity together with our Lord.
I watched as she helped raise her brothers and sisters and she kept me informed of how they were doing. After that she kept me up to date on her kids and granddaughter.
As we had no information of the service before the day of the service so I can not tell each of her family how sorry I am that they have had to say goodbye, and I hope for each of them that they are assured of spending eternity with this sweet lady that they called sister and Mom.
